What are Academies?

Transforming High Schools

  • The Academies of Central Arkansas is a community-wide transformation of the public high school experience for scholars in the Jacksonville North Pulaski, Little Rock, North Little Rock and Pulaski County Special School Districts.
  • The Academies of Central Arkansas ensure that all scholars graduate ready for college, ready for careers, ready for enlistment and ready to be life-long learners.

How We Do It

  • The Academies of Central Arkansas empower students to be active participants in their own future by providing students with real-world learning experiences that directly relate to their post-secondary aspirations.
  • By utilizing the Ford Next Generation Learning Model, we have created a community-connected approach to education that aligns both the educational needs and workforce needs of our community now, and well into the future. This includes having a dedicated team of educators assigned to each academy, called a small learning community that plan interventions around individual students and use their planning time to co-develop lesson plans that help them teach through the industry lens of the academy they represent, bringing learning to life.
  • With opportunities for all students at the core of our model, we work with the business community and our higher education partners to provide students with opportunities to learn about the company/business, learn with the company and to apply that knowledge within the company.
  • In addition to the hands-on experiences students will gain through the Academies of Central Arkansas, all students will graduate having had the opportunity to earn concurrent college credits and industry-recognized credentials, all while still enrolled in high school!
