Greetings Families, Scholars, and the Maumelle Community. I am excited about the work we are doing at Maumelle High School. We not only strive to maintain a safe and clean academic environment, but also one that challenges each student and prepares them for the next level. Pathways

Scholars with a computer science background will be needed in every sector of our computerized world from computer hardware to software, from networking to troubleshooting. Scholars in this pathway will learn web development, programming, design, networking and cyber security to prepare them for numerous careers including web developer, network administrator, computer systems analyst or information technology manager.

The Banking pathway prepares scholars for a career in financial and investment planning, banking, insurance and business financial management. Career opportunities are available in every sector of the economy and require specific skills in organization, time management, customer service and communication. This pathway teaches scholars banking practices in deposits, lending funds, extending credit, and banking services which includes cash management, short-term investments, loans, credit cards and bill payments.

In the Business Marketing Pathway is for scholars who want to own, manage and/or market a company. Scholars will learn how to design and create marketing products, develop business plans, generate ideas for products and services, and developm marketing strategies. Scholars will get a chance to meet with business leaders and receive professional feedback on the designed products and strategic plans.

The Education and Training pathway is for scholars who want to guide and train young lives. This pathway is designed to provide scholars with information and experiences in the field of education, and scholars will receive experiential learning opportunities to plan and prepare instructional materials, build classroom management skills, assist with record keeping, make physical arrangements, and experience responsibilities of classroom teachers, counselors, administrators, para-professionals, social workers, and interpreters.

Central Arkansas Water Academy of Science & Construction

The Central Arkansas Academy of Science and Construction at Maumelle High School include pathways in Architectural/Civil Pre-Engineering, Construction, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Health Science. Students who enroll this Academy are preparing for college, career, and life-long learning opportunities.

Pathways

The Pre-Engineering pathway prepares scholars for a variety of engineering and design professions including architectural or civil design. Scholars will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills by identifying the relationship between available resources and requirements of a project/problem to accomplish realistic planning. scholars create design solutions for sophisticated problem sets as they progress through the pathway.

Scholars in the Construction Pathway will prepare for the various disciplines of construction and have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the building systems and components required for a construction project. Scholars will be able to interpret construction drawings, perform basic math skills, demonstrate the construction crafts required for each phase of a construction project, safely use and maintain appropriate tools, equipment, and resources to accomplish construction project goals and eventually lead a team on a construction project. Future careers include plumber, carpenter, maintenance technician, building inspector, electrician and construction manager.

The Nutrition & Dietetics Pathway prepares scholars to focus on using the scientific method to study the various relationships between food science, nutrition, food engineering, nutrition-related diseases, food safety, and food preparation. Laboratory skills in food preparation as well as measuring, recording, and analyzing data is used to explore these relationships. Experimental methods are employed to analyze food mixtures, food microbiology, food preservations, and complex food systems. Scholars are able to analyze the interaction of nutrition, foods, and fitness for overall wellness of individuals and develop essential skills in food safety and food preparation practices needed in the food industry.

Scholars in the Health Science Pathway focus on the developing child, nutrition and disease, and the human body systems in order to prepare for medical professions. Experiential learning includes child observations while studying child development theories, food science, and laboratory dissection. Special emphasis will be placed on mental health. Upon completion of this pathway, scholars will be prepared for training or a college education in biotechnology, diagnostic services, health informatics, health support services, or therapeutic services.
